proFX consulting & allied services (proFX) was conceived in December, 2007 to become a one-stop hub in foreign exchange consulting, as a part of an overall strategy for Treasury Advisory. However, with the goodwill generated in a very short span of time, and also to respect the suggestions of a lot of decision-making functionaries across markets, proFX branched out to new and vital territories like Placements, Software Solutions and Loan Syndication.

proFX is promoted by Amrit K. Basu, who has been a professional banker for close to 30 years. Having started his career with Bank of Baroda as a Directly Recruited Officer, and then with State Bank of India as a Probationary Officer, Amrit had the good fortune to work in various departments, like Retail, Corporate and International Banking. For the most part, however, he has been associated with Foreign Exchange and International Finance segments.

After relinquishing an eventful career of 7 years in the private sector banks, Amrit realized that there is more to foreign exchange than doing the "'mine's" and "yours'' at the trading pit of the Bank(s).

He immediately grabbed an offer from HDFC Bank to offer consultancy services to them in direct trading - this resulted in a mutually fruitful association for about 3 years. Never the one to rest content with achieving goals, Amrit saw the vision of a "One-stop Forex Hub - for Corporates and Individuals alike by 2012" and was briefly (for a year) associated with a premier Diamond company as an Fx Consultant.

Then proFX took the shape.
